Short description: Dolphins dolphins dolphins ... dolphins!

Long description:
I've been thinking about uploading this photograph for a long time. Some people have asked me about it.

This is a third of the dolphin community, the Męara, that I travelled with for more than four years and which I came to know and understand better than humans. I was with them when we were merely three individuals in the Coral Sea, Australia, and I was with them when we hit a 120 in the North Atlantic.

The individuals in this photograph are mostly bottlenose dolphins (both adults and calves) with two smaller striped dolphins close to the viewer.

The word "Męara" stems from a language that I have invented and literally means "those who glide on waves". Also, "Meara" is a gaelic name and means "jolly". I didn't plan that, but it fits perfectly :)

Dolphins are horrifying little buggers that will purposefully deny food and sleep to the females of their species until they allow themselves to be raped. More people are killed each year by being raped to death by roving packs of male dolphins than there are by sharks you just don't hear about it as often because dolphin attacks usually happen out in deep water in the open ocean.

You are completely misinformed and have an almost entirely wrong picture of these animals, just like 99% of all other people :)

This information was gained from reading the journal of marine biology. You and the general public's idealized vision of these animals is whats wrong.

I have done research on wild oceanic dolphins in 3 oceans over 35,000 hours of field work.
